Two Holoways, Zippy Mart Managers, Murdered in Robbery
Mary Walden Holoway aged 43 and her husband Charles Elford Holoway aged 37 were shot to death in a robbery at the College Acres Zippy Mart in North Augusta. Investigators say $1700 was taken from the safe and the couple were killed between 2:55 and 3:28 a.m. The store was checked by a deputy at 2:55 a.m. and found secure, but when checked again at 3:28 a.m. the lights were out and no one was at the register. No suspect has been identified. The investigation involved the State Law Enforcement Division and Richmond County authorities due to related incidents in the Augusta area. The Holoways had managed the store since September and left five children.
