Olympic champion Howard Davis Jr. dies at 59
Former Olympic light welterweight gold medalist Howard Davis Jr. died of stage 4 lung cancer at 59 in Plantation Florida. His wife Karla Guadamuz-Davis said he died Wednesday after a battle marked by family support and a decision to end treatment. Davis had been named the Montreal Games outstanding boxer in 1976, edging Sugar Ray Leonard and others in a tearful victory dedicated to his late mother.
