South Carolina residents age 65 or older will be exempt from the four percent sales tax on medicine and prosthetic devices starting Jan 1 1974. The General Assembly approved the measure, and the Tax Commission urged pharmacists to collect exemption certificates on first purchase and keep them on file for subsequent transactions.
