Students drive STEAM innovation at local middle schools
Principal Percy Smith praises Jackson Middle for nurturing 21st century thinkers with project based learning. Eighth graders Shakaren Douglas and Treasure King won first in the Innovative Challenge for an app to monitor school recycling. The school and New Ellenton Middle emphasize integrated STEM and arts, cross grade collaboration, and real world projects with local engineers aiding instruction.
