Former USC Aiken star Meredith Stapleton mourned
Meredith Legg Stapleton, former USC Aiken basketball standout and all time leading scorer, died after a five year battle with ocular melanoma just days before her 27th birthday. A service will be held at St John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken on a date to be announced. She is survived by her husband Christopher Stapleton and family.

Davis charged with homicide in infant death
A Wagener man Leon Marquis Davis, 34, was charged with homicide by child abuse after an infant died from traumatic brain injury. He faced three counts of failure to pay child support and remained in detention as authorities investigated. Responders found the child unconscious on Camp Rawls Road and he died later at Georgia Regents Medical Center.
