GAO Flags DOE Evaluation Of SRS Liquid Waste Bid
GAO dispute centers on DOE’s handling of the SRS liquid waste bid from SREM, noting the agency did not adequately evaluate REM’s viability and how it would dispose of millions of gallons of highly radioactive waste. Protests by SRTR and FWLWS followed, with SREM initially winning the contract in 2017 and bids later redacted and reviewed for cost and technical merit.

Audubon Center Eagles Nests Watch For Hatchlings
Koehler reports Audubon Center and Sanctuary eagles typically lay eggs in January with hatchings in February. By mid May fledglings appear and parents then guide them away. This year's female nests heavily and the male stays nearby, suggesting eggs or tiny eaglets soon visible above the nest edge. The center spans 3,000 acres at 4542 Silver Bluff Road near the Savannah River. call 803.471.0291 for details.
