Langley Democrat Rep. James Roland Smith urges boosting the 65 plus homestead exemption to 50 000 or doubling it to ease fixed income hardship. He warns the plan would cost the state tens of millions annually, with local reimbursements from the state. The measure faces House Ways and Means delays as seniors press for relief.
