Midland Valley hosts large ROTC drill meet Saturday

The Midland Valley Naval Junior ROTC will host a major drill competition at MVHS featuring 16 schools and nearly 500 cadets from South Carolina North Carolina and Georgia. Cadets will coordinate events with contests starting 9 15 am and an awards ceremony at 2 pm.

Burns Dance Studio to Present An Evening of Dance at USCA

Burns Dance Studio Performing Company attended a regional competition by LA Dance Magic. The group performed eight routines in tap jazz and ballet with seven gold medals and one silver. Vehicle strikes North Augusta child after school

A Hammond Hill Elementary student, about six, was slightly injured when a vehicle struck him on a sidewalk on Bunting Drive after school. Detective Tim Thornton of the North Augusta DPS said the child stepped into the path of the car while pursuing what he thought was his parent’s vehicle. The child was taken to a hospital. the vehicle had minor damage and no charges are pending.

Clark to receive Rotary Service Above Self award in May

William E. Clark a longtime Greenwood Rotary member and former District 7750 Governor will receive Rotary International’s Service Above Self award at the district conference in May. The CART Fund president Clark helped create programs for high school and college students and has guided $600,000 in grants to Alzheimer’s research facilities.

Defense motions pending in York murder trial

Pretrial motions before Judge John C. Uhler in the 1969 York murder case seek his removal, a separate trial for former Mayor Charlie Robertson, a psychological evaluation for a defendant, and suppression of evidence.
