Living history comes alive for area youth reenactors
Over a weekend in Aiken County youths joined a Civil War living history event. Daniel Metts, 10, from Charleston, portrays a powder monkey and medical helper while Kristen Everson, 18, travels with sutlers from Appleton Wisconsin. Roving groups set up tents and sell period goods as participants endure muddy nights and heavy labor, sharing camaraderie and lessons from the 1860s.
