Rezoning Shocks Gatewood Families Over Millbrook Move
Aiken County Public Schools board approved attendance area changes on January 23 sending Gatewood neighborhood students to East Aiken School of the Arts instead of Millbrook Elementary. Jennifer and Russell Hughes say they learned of the move at a Millbrook meeting and would have voiced concerns earlier. Superintendent Dr Sean Alford explained the grandfathering provision allowing current students to remain until final grades, with transportation required, and promised neighborhood letters to gather feedback.
