Trump taps McMaster as national security adviser
President Trump names Army Lt Gen H. R. McMaster as the new national security adviser at Mar a Lago after ousting Michael Flynn. McMaster, a veteran of the Gulf War and author with a PhD in military history, joins Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Home Security Secretary John Kelly, both retired generals, in a security leadership team. The move follows Flynn’s dismissal over Russia sanctions discussions and a failed bid by Robert Harward to take the post.
