USC Aiken captain Randy Warrick saw the season start on a high note as Darren Jackson pitched seven strong innings and Reggie Williams collected three hits, including a first inning homer, in a 10-1 victory over Georgia College at J.H. Satcher Field. Williams sparked offense with a two run double in the third as USC Aiken seized control early and never relented, with Warrick praising all phases of play. The Pacers travel to Augusta College for a 1 30 p.m. matchup Sunday to continue their opener-themed road trip.
Aiken high school defeated Strom Thurmond 53 48 in a Region 5 AAA boys game as Reggie Kennion led with 15 points and Joe Williams added 12. Strom Thurmond stood 2 19 overall and 0 13 in conference, while Aiken improved to 15 7 and 10 3. The Aiken girls beat Strom Thurmond 64 42 with Teresa Johnson scoring 16 points and Teresa Davis 11.
Louisville defeats South Carolina 98 to 88 as Dozier leads for South Carolina with 34 points while Dozier 13-22 8-16 and Price 6-9 44 for Carolina. Rebounds Louisville 22 led by Williams 7 and Dozier adds 8. Fouls 29 each. several players fouled out.
A brawl at Carolina Coliseum ended with a fan arrested for disorderly conduct and four players plus a coach ejected after a fight between Louisville and South Carolina. Charles Beans, 26, struck a Louisville player twice and faces jail before bond. Teammates Darryl Martin and Terry Gould of USC and Herbert Crook and La Bradford Smith of Louisville were charged with technical fouls. USC coach George Felton also ejected under NCAA rules.
Alwen fell 53 to 48 against Aiken with Nipper and Watts leading scoring for the visitor. Strom Thurmond trailed 53 48 at the end of the fourth, as Culbreath and Harris paced the home team with double digit totals. S points include Watts and Jumnies for AHS and Tanks and Thomas for STH.
