Bush budget deepens debt says Spratt in radio address
Rep. John Spratt of South Carolina argues in the Democrats weekly radio address that President Bush's 2006 budget omits Iraq and Afghanistan costs and the Social Security overhaul. He says deficits would rise to nearly 4 trillion dollars, with the debt ceiling raised 2.2 trillion since 2002 and $100 billion spent in 2006 alone. He contends the plan would add about 5 trillion to debt in 20 years and threaten future budget balance, while Democrats criticize cuts to education, veterans' health, rural and urban development, environment, law enforcement, and Medicaid.
