An AP report from Prague states a Soviet airliner crashed on landing with about 50 people killed. Airport sources said 84 aboard, 15 to 30 survived, including all but one stewardess of the crew.

The U S Weather Bureau forecasts a warming trend in Aiken County with partly cloudy skies today. Lows near 30 tonight and a high around 60 tomorrow. rain probability 10 percent. Wednesday to Friday feature variable clouds and possible showers with coastal lows mid 40s and inland around 40, highs in the 60s.
Sheriff Paul Grant says two masked men attacked a 17 year old girl near Gloverville but were less brutal than recent North Augusta and Augusta assaults. The incident at 3 p.m. Friday prompts safety guidance urging women to travel in groups and stay in well lit areas. Authorities, E. H. Boyd and Dan Bowe, continue the investigation as merchants offer escorts in parking areas.
