Black History Parade recalls 1950s era in Aiken
The Black Historical Committee of Aiken sponsored the February parade with about 55 units. The McCormick High School Band led a soulful show in red and black, directed by Joseph Wilson, as floats, classic cars, and church groups from Aiken Augusta Williston and New Ellenton moved along Hampton Avenue to the Smith Hazel Recreation Center amid sunny winter calm.
