Quake Triggers Killer Tidal Waves in New Guinea

A strong undersea quake near Biak Island whipped up tidal waves up to 21 feet, wiping out hundreds of homes and killing at least 10 people. Biak and Sopiori Selatan suffered heavy destruction. emergency teams are rushing to the area as aftershocks continue.

Last body pulled from Japanese tunnel collapse as relief grows

In Furubira Japan rescuers ended a week of agony by extracting the final body from a mountain cave- in tunnel disaster that killed 20 people including 19 in a bus and one in a car. Families sobbed at a makeshift morgue as temperatures dropped. Police confirmed all victims were crushed but did not state if any died instantly.
