Drive by shooting suspect sought in Aiken County
Aiken County deputies investigated a drive by shooting on Mississippi Avenue around 12:30 p.m. A 33 year old woman identified 18 year old William Simmons Jr. of Hampton Avenue as the shooter. No injuries were reported. Simmons is also wanted for a June 21 2015 porch shooting on Brown Lane.

Blotter reports scattered thefts and suspensions in Aiken area
A 55-year-old North Augusta man reported his vehicle stolen from Karnes Street. A 47-year-old Beech Island woman said a 38-year-old Warrenville man in camouflage and trench coat was intoxicated at her Augusta Road home and fled when deputies arrived. A 30-year-old Beech Island woman claimed a vehicle break in on Laurie Drive with prescription meds stolen. A 60-year-old North Augusta reported break in on Lorraine Drive with items stolen. A 33-year-old Aiken man was charged with meth possession after a traffic stop on Jefferson Davis Highway in Graniteville. An Aiken man reported vehicle theft on I-20. A 35-year-old Aiken woman said her car on Marion Street was broken into. A construction business owner reported nearly $1000 in equipment and copper stolen on Crepe Myrtle Drive. A woman was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and related offenses after a Pine Log Road stop.

Warrenville man charged with attempted murder
A Warrenville man, Pete Alexander McBurnette, 28, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after a January shooting at Racers gas station in Graniteville. Investigators say he pointed a rifle at a 55-year-old man during a drug-related meeting, fired into the air, and struck the victim with the gun’s butt. The victim was treated at Augusta University Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries. McBurnette was arrested and jailed at the Aiken County detention center.
