Sen. Strom Thurmond announces Farmers Home Administration approved a 46200 dollar loan to Breezy Hill Water and Sewer Co. Inc. in Aiken County. Funds will finish a rural water system serving 1125 families three miles southeast of Belvedere. FHA previously approved 627000 dollars in June 1971, totaling 673200 dollars.

Deborah Ellen Lampton 22 secretary to Rep. Thomas S. Gettys was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the death of her newborn. A judge suspended a five year term after psychiatrists said she required treatment and would deteriorate in prison. In Long Beach California the Spruce Goose once built by Howard Hughes may be sold to recover government investment after a June 30 lease expiry. The 140 ton plywood seaplane flew once for a mile and 70 feet, with Hughes leasing the craft for 800 dollars monthly and the harbor department paying 36000 dollars yearly for a secluded hangar. No buyers were reported.
