The Smith Group plans its 12th annual Mardi Gras Party to benefit the Red Cross Aiken Area Chapter. March 7 from 6 to 10 30 p m at Newberry Hall features Cajun buffet desserts beer wine and hurricanes with Palmetto Groove Band. Tickets 50 per person 100 per couple. Aiken City Cup Kicks Off With Pre-Event Meeting
An informational meeting for firms hoping to join the sixth annual Aiken City Cup Corporate Fitness Challenge is set for March 11. Organized by the City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department, the May event invites coed and single-sex teams from government, education and professional groups to compete in events like a sack race and two-mile run. The overall winner receives the City Cup trophy and will retain it until the next year when it is passed to the new champions. A company representative must attend the March 1 meeting at 8:30 a.m. at the downtown Municipal Building, 214 Park Ave. Registration packets are available by email and phone.
