Courthouse ambush harms woman amid child support dispute

Olivia Weaver, 21, was shot in the face and stomach and her stepfather was wounded as Curtis Gorny, charged with attempted murder, opened fire outside a Chesterfield County courthouse after a 12 mile chase. Weaver's mother says the suspect, who dated her daughter, pursued violence over child support and a new baby. Weaver remains in intensive care while her stepfather was treated and released.

Public comment sought on changes in S C beach law

A South Carolina Blue Ribbon Committee on Shoreline Management has released a 28 page report and opened a 30 day public comment period online. The panel proposes revising the Beachfront Management Act including abandoning a 40 year retreat policy and improving relocation and redevelopment rules along the 200 mile shoreline.
