Five SC residents plead guilty in NC man’s death case
In York, five South Carolina residents admitted guilt in the attempted robbery and killing of a North Carolina man. Montez Laverry Rutledge, 19, of Fort Mill, received 33 years for murder kidnapping and attempted armed robbery. Chance Pate, 21, of Charlotte, was shot and died in Rock Hill on July 20. Other co defendants also pleaded guilty to kidnapping and armed robbery related charges, with prison terms from five to 25 years. Pate died after being found in an abandoned vehicle and transported to a hospital.
