A 61 year old Reno businessman won what was described as the world's biggest slot machine jackpot, $6.9 million, at the Cal Neva Club after lining up four 7s on a Megabucks progressive machine. Officials will introduce him at a news conference Monday morning. The win may help cover a Valentine gift lapse noted by the winner. The previous record was $4.9 million won by Terry Williams at Harrah's Reno on February 1, 1987.

A week-old California baby named Christoffer received a heart at Loma Linda University Medical Center after a five hour operation. Across the country in Pittsburgh, 3 week old Jonathan Stowe began an eight hour heart transplant at Children's Hospital. Both boys born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
