MOX funding shift sparks job debate in Aiken County
Local leaders warn job losses at Savannah River Site would hurt the economy as the 2017 DOE budget seeks to terminate the MOX project and switch to downblending plutonium. About 200 craft and 350 salaried workers would stay to secure facilities, with 500 craft and 750 salaried staff to be released after two to four months.
