DHEC Board Rejects Restructuring Plan
The DHEC board voted 5-0 to oppose restructuring the agency keeping it intact. Gov. Sanford’s plan would split health and environmental divisions into new departments, but most current appointees opposed it saying the agency functions well as one unit. The vote is advisory and not binding on the Legislature or governor.
