Weeks sentencing divides Aiken family in child abuse case
Shannon Weeks, 24, will serve at least 85 percent of a 20 year term for aiding and abetting homicide by child abuse in the death of 15 month old Brittany Weeks. She will also be labeled a child abuser and barred from supervising minors. The judge credited 209 days in county jail and Weeks gave birth to her third child before sentencing. The baby boy, born Jan. 27, was put up for adoption. Weeks' mother Diane Yenny died during much of the sentencing period.

Owner grateful after dog returns Rascal missing near miss tale

Spelling Bee Victory Goes To Amy Varallo At South Aiken
Amy Varallo, 13, eighth grade at Schofield Middle School, won the Aiken County Spelling Bee at South Aiken High School after a 35 minute contest. Michael Waites, 12, nearly tied on the last words but misspelled slimy. Varallo impressed with symptoms and slimy, defeating eight rivals amid 88 words spoken.
