January Retail Sales Rose 0.6 Percent

The Commerce Department reports January retail sales at 138.9 billion dollars, up 0.6 percent from December. Auto sales fell 0.9 percent, clothing stores declined, while general merchandise rose 1.7 percent as department stores benefited from mild weather and higher prices.
