In Bhickshinny Pennsylvania Mrs Andrew Korta, 63, declared fear of the world's end drove her to take her own life. Family said she warned husband and three sons not to go to work that day but to prepare for the millennium.
Monroe, Mich. farmer Karl Frederick Danielsen, 49, shot his wife at their Tamperance area home near 16 miles away, then killed himself with the same revolver. Mrs. Danielsen cited fear of world end predictions. In other news, U.S. electricity production reached a record 58.9665 billion kilowatt hours last year, up six percent from 1923.
Gaston B Means and Thomas B Felder faced bribery charges for federal officials. Means posted 10,000 bail and awaits appeal while under 40,000 extra bail on other indictments. Washington reports a bill approving 180,600,000 for roads and 15,000,000 for forest work over two years, passed 66 to 6, to be shared evenly.
Rapid progress reported at the company offices as brick deliveries from Columbia and Spartanburg are expected to begin. Towers will be unloaded at Book Malt and erected promptly, while 40 cycle line improvements between Columbia and Parr Shoate aim to bolster storm protection and service reliability. A substation at Gervais and Cist streets is under construction, with foundations completed and a two story building planned.

In Clemson college experiment station results for 1924 Woolsey's Cleveland, bred by C. B Woolsey, ranked second in lint percentage among 39 varieties, improving on 1923. Woolsey began cotton breeding in 1917 with Clemson plant breeding work and has developed a Cleveland strain in high demand across the South. Columbia reports eighty farm poultry breeders have signed for an egg laying contest opened by Miss Juanita Neely of Winthrop College, with over 26 counties contesting and 4 high egg months plus 2 low months. The six month content aims to boost statewide interest in breeding, management, feeding, and records keeping.
Through a cooperative marketing plan led by county farm agent C. I. Vaughan the Laurens county fourth car lot shipment of poultry was made weighing 15,500 pounds and valued at 32,020. Fountain Inn Loading contributed 6,550 pounds, Gray Court 4,600 pounds, Laurens 4,200 pounds, and Clinton 400 pounds. The shipment was handled by the Southern Produce Company of Hamlet, North Carolina.
Civil engineers for the York permanent highways commission survey roads slated for hard surface paving. They map routes from Sharon to Rock Hill through York and Tirzah, York to Clover via Filbert, and Rock Hill to the Cheater county line. Estimated mileage runs about 42.
