A letter from Joy Lester, capital projects sales tax administrator, says 3.85 million dollars is not enough to meet Parks and Recreation requirements. A 700 thousand dollar budget increase is needed, potentially funded by unallocated capital projects tax money and fiscal year 2018 19 hospitality funds.

Spearman outlines bus funding and teacher pay drive in SC
In a speech Spearman detailed state efforts to buy 2000 new buses to cut maintenance, boost safety, and save fuel costs. She pushed for a six percent first year teacher raise and a two percent across the board, noting SC trails the Southeast average and promising hard work with the Legislature. She also urged statewide tech purchases to improve efficiency and backing for charter Montessori and virtual schools while consolidating districts to expand opportunities.
