Charlie Cupp 77 and Timothy Gant 43, both of Aiken, were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision on Richland Avenue. Cupp, ex-assistant director of public safety, served 1954 to 1992 and is reported in serious condition. Troopers say a 1997 Dodge pickup driven by Cupp turned left from the median into an oncoming 2003 Isuzu box truck.
