O Jack Little of Pensacola Florida says he will fly to San Francisco to trade himself for the release of Patricia Hearst, the newspaper heiress, unless authorities warn him not to come. The statement comes as police identify Russell Little as a member of the Symbionese Liberation Army.
AP reports freight movement across the nation returned to near normal as independent truckers resume over the road transport. A small minority still opposes ending the 11 day shutdown while automakers recall about 15 000 workers laid off or shifted. Production is described as normal and the 100 000 idled due to fuel and rates are returning to work.
Washington AP reports the conference of 13 major oil consuming countries closes with plans for another high level meeting including producers and developing nations. Ministers’ speeches suggest energy shortages extend beyond what a two day meeting can resolve.
President Muammar Khadafy completes the nationalization of Libyan properties of three American oil firms in retaliation for a Washington oil conference. Radio Tripoli called it a fresh slap in America's face as Arab oil nations prepare to debate easing the embargo in Tripoli. Khadafy had already seized 51 percent of foreign oil holdings last September.
Cyrus Eaton, a Cleveland industrialist, says Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro seeks better relations with the United States. Eaton spent a week in Cuba and told the Miami Herald in a Baltimore interview that a day of talks with Nixon or Kissinger could yield a good deal. He said he was impressed by developments and that he met Castro and other Cuban officials during his Bahamas to Cuba trip.
Gold climbed to $147 an ounce in early London trading and to $147.75 at the morning fix. The jump marks a $29.50 rise since January 1 as dealers cite currency fears and talk of higher dollar value gold reserves. In Zurich gold opened around $146 to $148.
The Christian Science Monitor reports Saudi Arabia will demand four American oil companies surrender their Aramco shares for about 1.5 billion dollars. Aramco, the world’s largest producer, is 25 percent owned by Saudi Arabia and 75 percent by Exxon Texaco Standard Oil of California and Mobil. Aramco pumps 7.1 million barrels daily, down from 8.8 million before the Arab oil embargo.
Aiken County Board of Commissioners plans to consider Jo Ann Price and Carrol Warner proposal to form an Ethics Committee at 8 p.m. in Room 107 USCA. The ordinance would regulate political activity, require disclosure of contributors over $100, and set penalties including removal or up to 30 days suspension.
South Carolina officials indicate some form of gasoline rationing is probable. Charleston plans a voluntary odd even license plate based allocation with $3 minimum purchases and staggered hours as shortages persist. Governor West supports consideration and a Tuesday hearing will weigh public action.

A public hearing will be held tomorrow at 7 30 p m in Room 107 at the University of South Carolina regional campus in Aiken to discuss HCA s Letter of Intent to build a 190 bed general acute care hospital in Aiken County. The Lower Savannah Regional Planning and Development Council reviews letters of intent for health facilities in six counties and will forward recommendations to the South Carolina Board of Health. Community input is sought from interested residents.
