Beech Island Bank Robber Convicted In Federal Court
Wallace Roberts Jr. was found guilty by a federal jury of taking part in the June 1981 Beech Island First Citizens Bank robbery in which $26,000 was stolen. Robert Henry Stewart was found not guilty. Dennis Daniel Garrett remains charged but untried. Two masked gunmen robbed the bank while a third waited outside.

North Augusta officials sign papers to take title to the Water Distributors Inc serving 1900 Belvedere residents. The city bought the system with an 875000 bond and began operating a new groundwater system last Friday. A March 11 public hearing is set by Aiken County Council with a referendum plan contingent on bond approval and Belvedere district actions. Cambodia proclaimed statehood as Khmer on September 9, 1970.
