The last of six individuals tied to the 2004 crime spree that included a series of burglaries and a Jersey bull mutilation is set to face trial next week in a case spanning the area.

Barbara Miller 90 of Fig Tree Court Clearwater died after stepping into a car at U S 1 and Parker Drive. Driver Alexis Johnson 18 of Aiken will not face charges. Miller, known for collecting cans, was crossing the southbound lane when struck at 11 12 a m by a car driven by a youth. Witnesses said speed and alcohol were not factors. Her niece Julie Wlodarczyk of Charleston expressed grief over the loss. The accident remains under investigation.
Aiken County Coroner confirms cause of death for 4 year old Ryker Young and 7 year old Gunner Young. Bodies found with their father Terrell Young, 45, after he killed the two children in early January in North Augusta.
A federal grand jury in Columbia indicted Martin F. Salazar, 48, a former Savannah River Site employee, on four counts for false statements to the Department of Energy and a false claim of U.S. citizenship. The charges allege he falsified a 2001 national security questionnaire saying he was born in Nogales, Arizona, but that he was born in Nogales, Mexico, and that in 2003 he falsely claimed a BS in engineering from California State University at Long Beach. He allegedly filed a retirement application claiming a January 1954 birth date instead of his actual birth date. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Dean A. Eichelberger.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving hosts a one hour VIP session in the Aiken Public Safety Courtroom from 7 to 8 pm across multiple dates. The panel features mothers and relatives sharing experiences to deter DUI offenders and reduce recidivism, with a $25 participation fee.
