An Aiken County official said rumors a Millbrook Elementary student had a gun at school were unfounded. A student was disciplined for threats, no weapon was seen, and a thorough district investigation found no evidence of firearms. A fact sheet will be sent to Millbrook families.
The Aiken Animal Hospital will relocate its address to 1181 Banks Mill Road while continuing to offer the same compassionate care. Construction began last July with Stewart Builders and the 6,000 square foot space will provide about 1,000 extra square feet for exams, labs, and equipment. Redcliffe Plantation invites visitors to an African American History Experience on Saturday. Historic house tours run from 1 p.m. with guided programs 2 to 3 p.m. The program covers 1859 to 1975 and includes slave quarters tours. Admission is 6 dollars for adults, 4 for ages 6-16, and 5.25 for seniors. a history book is included. The National Symphony Orchestra performs at 8 p m Friday Feb 15 at the USC Aiken Convocation Center. Tickets range from 17 to 40 dollars with seats still available at the box office. The program features Mozart Schuman Britten and Musorgsky in transcription.
