Battle of Aiken Event Wins State Tourism Award

The Battle of Aiken reenactment in Aiken County earned the Bundy Award at the 38th Annual DC Governor's Conference on Tourism and Travel in Greenville. Downtown Aiken speed limit changes eyed

State boards eye more school budget cuts this year

Aiken Superintendent Dr Linda Eldridge says officials expect another mid year cut of 2 to 5 percent across state agencies due to revenue shortfalls. The Board of Economic Advisors meets Monday to consider across the board reductions which could cost the Aiken County District from 1.2 to 8 million. The Board already used contingency funds in December for a 3 million mid year cut. Rep Roland Smith notes similar reports but nothing official yet.
