Diallo remembered at candlelight vigil in New York
About 100 people gathered outside the Bronx doorway where Amadou Diallo, 22, was fatally shot by four New York police officers in 1999. Speakers urged police to live in the neighborhoods they patrol and improve training to prevent racial profiling. The officers were cleared in state court in 2000, and federal charges were declined last year. Mayor Bloomberg blamed leadership and training under Police Commissioner Ray Kelly for preventing repeats.
