Demolition clears former legislators hub in Columbia
The Carolina Plaza hotel across from the South Carolina State House is set for demolition using 500 pounds of dynamite. Opened in 1973, it hosted lawmakers and lobbyists, later became a Radisson, then USC owned it before its 1995 to 2000 use by the Legislature. USC estimates about 1 million to raze and two months to clear debris.
