City seeks control of Whiskey Road to ease traffic

The city plans to form a permanent joint committee with Aiken County to manage Whiskey Road traffic and consider annexation from Pine Log Road to Powderhouse or Talatha Church Road. Officials say gains may be small but essential while projects and federal help are uncertain. More than 25,000 cars use Whiskey Road daily with plans to add lanes and a connector road.
