Wagener-Salley Teacher Suspended Over Florida License Revocation
Korey D. Washington a special education teacher at Wagener-Salley High is on administrative leave after the Florida educator certificate was permanently revoked. The South Carolina State Board of Education acted citing serious concerns about student safety and noting Washington may pose a threat until due process is completed. Washington did not admit or deny Florida's allegations and is permanently barred from reapplying for a Florida certificate. The Aiken County district stated there have been no complaints about his performance and that he was placed on paid leave following the Florida action. Washington earned his South Carolina credential in 2014 and has over 11 years of teaching experience.
