Monthly sessions begin the second Tuesday from 6 p.m. at the Gregg Park Civic Center with a 30 dollar fee for six classes. Walk-ins are welcome at 8 dollars per day and additional Saturday sessions occur every third Saturday at 9 a.m. for planning and instruction. For information call 683-7552.

Parks and Shartzer announce the engagement of Anna Lyndolph Parks of Statesville to Douglas Truman Shartzer of Aiken and Winston Salem. The couple plans to wed June 23, 2001 at Wilkesboro United Methodist Church. Anna is a UNC Asheville 2000 graduate and reading teacher in Davie County. Douglas graduates from USC Aiken in May 2001 with a business management degree.
Patricia and David Dixon announce the engagement of Melissa Ann Dixon of Aiken to Stephen Wayne Edwards Jr of Aiken. The wedding is planned for June 9 2001 at Bible Faith Holiness Church. Melissa is the maternal granddaughter of Ernest Brinson and the late Juanita Brinson and the paternal granddaughter of Andy and Dorothy Dixon. Stephen is the grandson of T E Wood and Ann Wood and the late Charles and Pat Edwards. Both attended South Aiken High School and are employed locally.
Mr. and Mrs. James P. DePalma announce the engagement of their son Dr. Michael James DePalma of Columbia to Dr. Arpita Gupta of Clifton Virginia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Satish Kumar Gupta. The bride is a Clemson University and Medical University of South Carolina graduate and a pediatrics resident at Children’s Hospital in Columbus Ohio. The groom is an Irma High School graduate, University of Pittsburgh and MUSC alum, and a psychiatry resident at Ohio State University in Columbus. The couple plans a April 28 2001 ceremony at Heritage Hunt Golf Country Club in Gainesville Virginia.
The Aiken County Detention Center lists bookings from Jan 26 to Feb 2. Names appear with ages and partial spellings. some may have posted bond and been released. All listed were arrested and charged, not necessarily found guilty.

Aiken DPS logs multiple incidents: a ride reported missing after a Jan New Ellenton man and an Aiken supermarket fall for a $100 forgery scam. Suspects described as a blond white male and two young adults. A 1995 Chevrolet S-10 stolen from a pizza parlor lot contained $75. An Aldrich damage case notes $200. A Barnwell suspect drove off with a rust colored 2000 Plymouth Neon by 3 pm.
