Arch Rival Universities Back a State House Bill
In Columbia, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina joined across a legislative divide to oppose a bill easing the removal of college programs. The bill would require two committees to override a commission order terminating courses at state-supported colleges. The measure faced strong debate after a 24-16 Senate vote defeated a motion to send it back to committee.
