City Debates Drive To Fund Community Goals
About 40 community leaders met with Aiken City Council to discuss a five year 3.5 million fundraising campaign for capital projects. Groups involved include the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce the Economic Development Partnership of Aiken and Edgfield Counties the Downtown Development Corporation and the city. A feasibility study by National Community Development Services Inc found 3.5 million as a realistic goal from an original 4.75 million target. The council could vote on moving forward as early as February 14.
