Richard Lee Gunnells, 25, son of Aiken Sheriff W. Ralph Gunnells, died at Eugene Talmadge Memorial Hospital from head injuries from a January 1, 1983, one car crash. He was eastbound on S C 302 at U S 78 when his VW veered left, rolled over, and he was thrown from the vehicle.
