Clintons Ring In New Year At Renaissance Weekend

President Bill Clinton Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea will visit Hilton Head for Renaissance Weekend on New Year’s Eve and depart Sunday noon. They will fly to Arkansas to resume holiday vacation Monday. This marks the 11th straight year the Clintons attend the off the record gathering founded in 1981 by Phil Lader.

Scenic Oaks Respond To Treatment

Aiken city officials report live oaks along South Boundary Avenue benefited from a deep root fertilization program after a 1993 survey found stress from parking and vehicle traffic. Director Roger LeDuc calls the effort a “shot” to extend the trees by up to 100 years and notes a planting program to replace aging trees.
