Stereo equipment valued at 300 dollars was stolen from a car on Norway Drive. A Belgium Circle car sustained 250 dollars in damage during an attempted CD player theft. A Martintown Road pickup suffered 950 dollars in damage from a BB pellet gun incident. Newspaper racks worth 500 dollars each were stolen near Martin Town Road and Georgia Avenue. An early Saturday burglary on East Avenue netted 2,791 dollars in electronics. A white 1987 Ford Mustang GT valued at 1,000 dollars was stolen from East Buena Vista Avenue. A 6,000 dollar 1999 Mercury van was stolen from Edgefield Road after three black males arrived in a red Toyota. One suspect wore a white sweater. An arrest was made for marijuana and controlled substance possession after a man was found sleeping in a vehicle on Marketplace Drive. A theft on Breckenridge Plaza resulted in 2,465 dollars of CDs and audio gear stolen. A North Augusta resident was jailed Friday on charges of driving while suspended, drunken driving and minor beer possession after a wreck at Carolina Avenue and Martin Town Road.

First Steps receives $10,000 grant boost
