Singers needed for MLK celebration at USC Aiken
The 2015 MLK Jr. Celebration Planning Committee seeks volunteers to join a choir directed by Joel Scraper USC Aiken's director of choral activities. The group will sing two selections at a 2:30 p.m. January 25 USC Aiken Convention Center event. Rehearsals are 7 to 9:30 p.m. January 19 in Etherredge Center room 125. Black History Parade seeks entrants for 14th annual event
The Black Historical Committee invites applications for its 14th annual Black History Parade on February 21 at 2 pm. Lineup starts 1 pm on Florence Street opposite American Legion Post 212. If bad weather the event shifts to February 22. Entry fee is 20 dollars with a February 4 deadline. forms at Smith Hazel Recreation Center and Brothers and Sisters of Aiken. For details call Linthia Perry or Charonica Pope. Aiken State Park hosts a First Day Hike on Thursday with free park admission, talks on nature and park history.
