Jet’s body cracks in hard landing at Pensacola

An Eastern Airlines DC-9 carrying 100 people made a hard landing at Pensacola Regional Airport in rain and fog. Two to three people suffered minor injuries, with evacuees guided by chutes and taken to hospitals. Weather conditions included two miles of visibility as officials reviewed the damage.

Warships Depart Barcelona After USO Club Grenade Attack

The destroyer Thorn and the frigate Donald B. Beary left Barcelona ahead of schedule after a grenade attack on the USO club killed GSM-3 Ronald Strong and injured nine sailors. Lawyers Boycott Trials In Gaza and West Bank

Lawyers in the occupied Gaza Strip continued a boycott of military court sessions for a second day over claims of unfair trials for about 800 Palestinians detained during clashes with the Israeli military. Defense attorneys in the West Bank floated joining the protest and condemned alleged mistreatment, saying detainees are beaten, starved, and kept in cold, windowless tents or barracks. In unrelated violence, a Jewish resident of Kiryat Arba was lightly wounded in a stabbing as he got off a vehicle.

Slow Moving Snowstorm Strikes Midwest and South

A slow moving storm blamed for at least 13 deaths whipped the Midwest and headed east after shutting Denver airport and closing interstates in Wyoming Oklahoma and Colorado.
