Man Drowns After Falling Into Pond in Aiken County

An 81 year old man, MQ Whittle Coleman, is identified as the drowning victim after reportedly slipping into a pond off Whittle Pond Road. Deputies say his pickup was found near the pond and foul play is not suspected. He was last seen before 7 am, believed to have driven there after his son left him home.

Beasley Asia trip cost over $85,000 for state ties

Gov. Beasley led an eight member delegation to Southeast United States Japan Conference in Tokyo and a similar meeting in Seoul. The 10 day trip totaled 389 002 with taxpayers paying most. Commerce officials say Japan is a major investor and market for South Carolina, with 71 companies and 14 864 jobs in the state. Exports to Korea reach 144 million.
