Tritium Leak Forces Beaufort Jasper Water Switch
Radioactive tritium from the K Reactor at Savannah River Site reached the Savannah River prompting Beaufort and Jasper counties to abandon river water. Westinghouse estimates tritium arrived Thursday with safety measures to use backup wells for over a week. DHEC and SRS monitor the river as authorities in Savannah and Georgia plan continued checks.

SAS MD-80 crash near Stockholm injures fourteen
An SAS jetliner with 129 aboard crashed in a snowy field ten miles north of Arlanda after takeoff from Stockholm. Fifteen hurt seven seriously as ice on the wings and dual engine failure are cited.
