Funeral Services for Shirley Young Taylor in Columbia

The funeral will be at Oakey Spring Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Friday with Rev. James B. Adams officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Survived by two daughters Monica Young and Lakesha Taylor, plus siblings, grandchildren, and aunts. The family will receive friends Thursday 3 to 7 p.m. at Fulmer's Funeral Home.

North Carolina man dies in I-26 crash in Spartanburg County

A 92-year-old George F. Herring Jr. of Weaverville N C died after an I-26 crash when ejected from a vehicle driven by his son’s car. He was not wearing a seat belt and died of multiple injuries at a hospital. The 62-year-old driver George F. Herring III was towing another vehicle and lost control.

Beaufort Sheriff Policy Violates South Carolina Open Records Law

The South Carolina attorney general’s office ruled Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office weekend and holiday access blocks to public records violate the state open records law. Man Turtured by Friend in Spartanburg Kidnapping

Spartanburg man 48 named James Joseph Barnett was charged with assault and battery with intent to kill armed robbery and kidnapping after allegedly kidnapping a chiropractor at knifepoint during a struggle and being turned in by a friend. He reportedly entered a chiropractic office Monday night demanded money and forced the 51-year-old victim into a vehicle.
