Aiken blotter reports a string of thefts and vandalism
According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety two unknown women attempted to steal 350 in toys on Whiskey Road, discarding a cart and fleeing. A 16 year old Graniteville boy was charged with shoplifting 46 in clothing on Richland Avenue. A burglary occurred at a Chesterfield Street restaurant. a TV was reported missing. An unknown person threw a brick at a vehicle on Pipeline Road. An unknown took a gun from a Summers Avenue home. A Warrenville woman reported cash stolen from her purse on Church Street. Four burglaries were reported on Jessica Street, Richland Avenue, Bell Drive, and New Dailey Road. A Beech Island Berry Lane vehicle break in was reported.

Aiken man jailed after shotgun blast to scare rock-throwing youths
Kim Eugene Adams, 57, of Alfred Street, was charged with discharging a firearm in the city after firing a shotgun into the air to frighten juveniles throwing rocks at his home. He was placed in the county detention center and released by Tuesday afternoon. Police said Adams retrieved the gun during a confrontation with the youths who had threatened him. In a separate report, a Graniteville man said an explosion destroyed his mailbox on Mustang Drive around 12:30 a.m., with no suspect identified. A similar mailbox blast occurred last week in Wagener, sparking a small brush fire.
